About Mimi's Jewel
Hi.
I’m Ramona Verbeek-Geerman, owner of Mimi’s Jewel.
My love for crafting started at a very early age, when my mom would persuade me and my sister to do arts and crafts.
My sister would make coffee table lamps from recycled materials and I would make jewelry boxes from postcards and shells.
But when I grew older I developed a love for architecture. This became my passion until my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. When that happened I knew I couldn’t leave her alone at home, so thus I became her caretaker.
I quickly realized that I had to look for something that we could do together, which was working with recycled materials.
We live on a island where the climate is sunny most of the year and we’re surrounded by the sea, with lovely white sandy beaches on the one side and volcano-like rocks on the other. Inspiration here is unlimited.
I wanted to thank my mom for giving me so much love that I named my jewelry and trinkets store after her, ”Mimi’s Jewel”.
I want my jewelry to last. For that reason I use recycled and sustainable materials wherever I can, because I do not want to deplete the earth’s resources.
Greetings from Ramona.
